Assessment Support (EC, ELP and SSIS)

  • Have you submit your assignment late, with a sufficient reason, and want consideration for late penalties to be removed?
  • Have you experienced extenuating circumstances you would like taken into consideration by the university?
  • Do you have a support plan that authorises coursework deadline extensions?

Wellbeing advice and guidance

What do they do?

The university Wellbeing Team provides information, advice, and guidance on a range of personal and social issues, aiming to improve the overall mental and physical wellbeing of students, including:

  • Counselling services.
  • Self-help guides.
  • Workshops and events.

Learning and teaching support officers (LTSO)

What do they do?

The faculty Learning and Teaching Support Officers (LTSO) are here to help you with advice and guidance regarding all aspects of university life, including:

  • Being a first point of contact to help navigate available university support.
  • Working with you to overcome any barriers or concerns regarding your learning.
  • Providing information regarding university policies and procedures.

What do they do?

 University IT Services can help with all of your general IT related issues relating to your university account, including:

  • Email and Canvas access.
  • Password and Duo two-factor management.
  • Support with printing services.
  • General IT related enquiries.

  • There is an drop-in service available in the Sydney Jones Library, Mon - Fri, 9am - 5pm (term-time only).

 


Disability advice and guidance (DAG)

What do they do?

The university Disability Advice and Guidance (DAG) team help identify and recommend appropriate support for students who have additional learning considerations, including:

  • Setting up Student Support Information Sheets (SSIS), to ensure students are not disadvantaged in their learning.
  • Assisting students who suspect they may have an impairment or neurodivergence.
  • Ensuring buildings and rooms are physically accessible for students with additional needs.

International advice and guidance (IAG)

What do they do?

The university International Advice and Guidance (IAG) support international students from their initial visa applications through to their graduation and beyond, including:

  • Support for planning to arrive and leave the UK.
  • Visa guidance (including student visas, working visas, visitor visas, etc).
  • Confirming maximum permitted work hours.
  • Advice regarding budgeting and integration British culture.
  • Supporting with accessing healthcare services.

Student life (student administration and support)

What do they do?

Student Life (formerly Student Administration and Support) are responsible for a wide range of services relating to student administration and academic processes, including:

  • Student record amendments.
  • Examination enquiries.
  • Graduation enquiries.
  • Document requests.

Money Advice and Guidance

What do they do?

The Money Advice and Guidance team offer support to help you manage your money while at university, including:

  • Advice on entitlement for student loans and grants.
  • Budgeting guidance.
  • Administration of a discretionary hardship fund for students in financial difficulties.

Careers and employability

What do they do?

The university Careers and Employability team help refine your employability throughout your academic journey to enhance your future career success, including:

  • Information regarding prospective career paths.
  • Increasing your employability through career fairs, internships, and graduate schemes. 
  • Direct support from career coaches to help with your CV and job applications.

English Language Centre (ELC)

What do they do?

The English Language Centre (ELC) offers opportunities and resources to improve use of English within academic settings, including: 

  • Conversation Clubs and a Language Lounge, helping to improve socialising in English.
  • Access to general language learning resources.
  • Language advising, to help you identify your language learning needs.

Guild of Students

What do they do?

The Liverpool Guild of Students serves as the hub for student activities, support, and representation, including:

  • Acting as a social hub hosting a wide range of societies, activities, and student led events.
  • Providing advice on academic, financial, housing, and mental health issues.
  • Providing independent advice regarding university policies and procedures, including complaints and appeals.

Library

What do they do?

The Library hosts a wide range of resources to help students with their studies, including:

  • Being a central point for book, journal, article, video and music searches, offering both digital and physical copies.
  • Offering a safe space to focus on your studies, with different noise levels to suit your needs (Social; Quiet; Silent).
  • Study rooms available to book to work on group projects.
  • Up-to-date module reading lists, with information on exactly how to find the required resources.

KnowHow

What do they do?

KnowHow is a free service offering a range of workshops, webinars and online tutorials to help you improve your academic skills, covering:

  • Writing dissertations.
  • Writing literature reviews.
  • Learning qualitative research methods.
  • Getting started with statistics.
  • Time Management
  • Exam Preparation
