How does the Department monitor student attendance / engagement?

The way to register your attendance is really easy and you can do it via the University’s existing timetable, either online via a browser, or using the existing timetable app, more more information is available via https://student.liverpool.ac.uk/student-attendance/register-your-attendance/.

Your attendance matters! We want every student to be able to succeed at the University of Liverpool and attending timetabled teaching activities can play a crucial part in your future academic success. Attending timetables activities will also make it easier for you to become part of our vibrant learning community of staff and students, enabling you to take advantage of the wide range of academic support and other resources and activities available at the University.

The University's Student Attendance Policy sets out how we want to use attendance data to help ensure you receive the right support whenever you need it.

Should we have a concern about your attendance, we will contact you to find out what is happening and help you get back on track. Depending on what you tell us, we may refer you for additional support and guidance.

We also need an accurate record of your attendance in order to meet:

Student Finance requirements and verify your eligibility for student loans during the academic year (if you receive these)
Our obligations under the Data Protection Act to hold accurate data on student registration
UKVI Home Office requirements and to continue to be able to sponsor your student visa (if you have one)

That’s why it is really important that you complete the student registration process for all of your timetabled sessions, both on-campus in-person activities as well as on-line sessions, delivered via MS Teams or Zoom.

We're doing our best to try to ensure that any student who is struggling is provided with the appropriate support and it would really help us if you could please complete welfare surveys when prompted to do so (as we will obtain an overview of how students are).

What do I need to do if I’m absent / unable to engage?

You can request an absence outside scheduled University vacation periods via the University's student intranet or the My Liverpool mobile app. More information is available via:
