Interruption of Studies (previously known as Suspension of Studies)

We recognise there are a number of reasons why a student may wish to temporarily stop their studies, such as mental/physical illness, financial reasons, to take up employment and many more.

If you are considering interrupting your studies, we would recommend you contact The Student Experience Team (csstudy@liverpool.ac.uk) or our Learning Teaching Support Officers (SciEng-LTSO@liverpool.ac.uk) to discuss this before making a decision.

As part of the Interruption of Studies process, you may also be advised to contact the Money Advice and Guidance team (money@liverpool.ac.uk) and/or the International Advice and Guidance Team (iagteam@liverpool.ac.uk) to discuss how interrupting your studies may affect you financially and/or affect your visa (if applicable).

Once you have discussed with a member of the team, you will need to submit an Interruption of Studies online form, this can be found here

When the form has been approved and actioned by all relevant parties, you will be notified of this.

When you are due to return to studies, the central Student Administration Support team will contact you to confirm you wish to resume your studies, please ensure you reply to any correspondence you receive.
