Recording Lectures with Panopto in Canvas

 

1.  Login to Canvas https://canvas.liverpool.ac.uk

2.  Navigate to your course in Canvas

3.  Select the Panopto Recordings option from the left hand Navigation Bar

4.  Select Create

5.  Select Panopto for Windows / Launch Panopto (if the Desktop Recorder is not installed on the device, details can be found here on how to install it from Install University Applications)

6.  You will then be shown the Panopto Recorder window.

7.  The Folder field specifies which course the recording will be saved in

8.  The Name field can be changed to reflect the Title / Description / Date of your Lecture

N.B. If you wish you can now minimise the Desktop Recorder screen and use the Panopto Hot Keys to Record (F8 Key), Pause/Resume (F9 Key) and Stop (F10 Key) or alternatively continue with the steps below

9.  Press the Record button

10.  Once completed press the Stop button. You will then see the following screen, you can choose to change the Title of the recording and give it a Description.  Once finished, press the Done button or if you wish to not save press the Delete and Record again button

 

 

11.  Once you are happy with the Title and Description select the Done button and you will be shown a status screen like the one below, detailling the recording which is currently uploading along with any offline and saved recordings. Do not switch off option the PC until the recording has completed uploading

 

 

12. When completed, please Log Off (icon can be found on the PC Desktop).

Do not Restart / Switch the PC off as this could impact on the upload of the recording and will incur more time starting the PC for the next user
