For creation of interactive resources there are a number of options available to staff. Some of these are institutionally licensed and supported, others are paid for licenses by departments, but there are also further resources that are available in the public domain.

The software which we recommend to staff primarily to look at would be Microsoft Sway for which we have a university license. Other eLearning design tools that are commonly used in industry, but not necessarily supported at the University

Xerte - https://www.xerte.org.uk/index.php/en/getting-started-menu/examples-demonstrators - Free to use but requires an insitutional install, please raise a ticket with IT Services to request
Adapt Learning - https://www.adaptlearning.org/index.php/adapt-showcase/ - Free to use, not sure where end projects are stored if have to be hosted on their site or if something that is standalone (preferred)
H5P - https://h5p.org/content-types-and-applications - Another popular tool, although looking at examples may be focused on smaller course videos
Articulate Storyline - https://articulate.com/360/storyline - Users from across the University, although no central support available. License can be brought from IT Services

Currently there is no method for students to download a transcript of the captions, so it does involve you downloading it and sharing with them. You can make use of the Captions from Studio though, so that saves a lot of time, but if it's a considerable amount then you may be able to get support from your school of your school's disability support office.

These are how you do it:

1. So now that the captions have been created in Canvas Studio, you can download them using the instructions about 2/3rds of the way down this guide: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Studio/How-do-I-upload-a-caption-file-to-Canvas-Studio-media/ta-p/1702

2. This downloads a .zip file containing two '.srt' files (they will probably both be the same). These are text files that you can open up in NotePad, or TextEdit, and you can probably even persuade Microsoft Word to open them. But what you will find is that all of your words are there but they are not in paragraph format; they contain the 'time codes' that relate to where in the video the caption applies.

3. You could either manually edit the file to remove these (for example in Word), but even better there are web services that will do this for you for free. Here is an example website 'Happyscribe' where you can upload the .srt file and have it output a text file without the timecode: https://www.happyscribe.com/subtitle-tools/convert-srt-to-text

4. Upload the text file into your course, and place links to it maybe next to your video
